Shaft height record for high-torque motors

Baumüller is expanding its portfolio of high-torque motors with a shaft height of 560 mm.

Baumüller is breaking its own shaft height record with the current expansion of its motor portfolio. With a shaft height of 560 mm, the new DST2-560 high-torque motors are now the largest motors that the manufacturer and pioneer of direct drive technology offers in series production.

High torque for industrial use

With a maximum torque of up to 80,000 Nm, the motors are suitable for use in various industries and systems, such as servo presses, extruders and shredders. The water-cooled high-torque motors offer very high torques even at low speeds and also impress with outstanding true running characteristics, a robust design and a smooth housing surface that is not prone to accumulating dirt.

Powerful and clean alternative for ships

Specifically designed for use in ships, the DST2-560 is optionally also available with so-called wing mounts. These feet diametrically arranged on the outer diameter of the motor make it easier to integrate it into the ship design. In addition, the high-torque motors have already been prepared for approval according to Lloyd’s Register and the DNV GL. With degrees of efficiency of 96% over a broad speed range, the DST2-560 motors are very energy-efficient.

ECGenius is a high-power, efficient and cost-effective continuously variable transmission dedicated to telehandler vehicles, and also suitable for other equipment. The Patented Mechanical Variator (Europe, United States and Asia) at the core of this product is the result of over 15 years of development at CVTCORP, Bonfiglioli’s Canadian partner. Bauer BK Series Geared Motors for Pizza Packaging Line Conveyors

One of the world’s largest food and beverage companies needed an efficient, reliable drive for a pizza packaging line in one of its plants in Italy. The drives power shrink wrapping machine infeed conveyors. The facility had been using traditional stainless steel motors rated at 70-80 Hz. However, to boost production, the speed was increased to 80-90 Hz which created excessive heat causing the drives to fail.

After a careful analysis of the conveyor application demands, Bauer engineers recommended a BK Series right angle bevel geared motor for improved efficiency compared to worm gear solutions. The Model BK06 supplied features a PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor) that reduces heat losses from the rotor by 100% and total losses by approximately 25%, while increasing total efficiency by 10% or more. This improved performance translates into lower total cost of ownership, a reduction in CO2 emissions, and ongoing savings that buffer against future increases in energy costs.

Because PMSM motors provide efficiency at a wide range of speeds, it allowed the conveyor line speed to be adjusted up to 80 RPM when needed to meet production schedule targets.

Compact Bauer BK Series models are completely enclosed and sealed against dust and moisture. A hardened wear sleeve and spray ring ensure leak-free performance.
